I was recently hired by a company called Mabuno Fine Furnishings to photograph an interior architecture / design project. Mabuno’s basic concept is to take really old woods, materials and all things really interesting that they find in 100+ year old barns and plains in the middle of the America’s and turn it all into furniture. Ryan Maher is the chief creator behind the company. His background from what I can gather is basically routed in art, creation, and ultimately creativity. We’ve only had the opportunity to hang out and get to know one another on a few occasions, but I’m really excited to see this project come together and to get a first hand look into what goes into his work. Ryan, myself, and another good friend Jordan who’s heading up the creative side of the project all went out for a brief scout this past weekend to look over each location and gather ideas for the shoots. We ended the day at the Mabuno mad scientist facility here in Leucadia, CA which was a photographers dream come true. There’s dust, and crazy old woods and opportunities just popping out of every corner of this place. Can’t wait to shoot the actual mapped out photographs in the facility over the next few weeks!
Here’s a sneak peek for now.
