San Francisco

I took a road trip with my Mom this weekend to San Francisco for a work meeting and a quick family visit.  24 hours isn’t exactly enough time to see it all but we made due.  My mom moved to San Fran from Honolulu when she was 10, and the majority of her family still resides within the city or in the near by areas.  So when i told her I was making the quick trip she volunteered to be my shotgun navigator / speed monitor.  I heard a lot of “slow down Scotty’s” over the past day and a half while we rocketed our way up and down the desolate Interstate 5.  San Fran is such a great city!  I’m not typically a huge fan of the concrete jungle, but I’m willing to make an exception when it comes to the city by the bay.  I went there to meet with Fairmont Hotels & Resorts and was lucky enough to stay a night in the historic hotel located right in the heart of the city.  I think my love for Frisco is mostly about the history you can feel breathing out of the old streets and beautiful buildings.  I can sit and stare at the streets and practically see people scooting by in model T’s heading to the theater for a show in their Sunday best.  You of course will soon be distracted from that day dream by a guy perched on a milk crate painted silver doing the robot for spare change.  But that’s just another part of the charm if you ask me, you could easily entertain yourself all day just walking the streets people watching and restaurant hopping.  Next time you’re in San Fran you have to visit the Fog City Diner for their onion rings, the Red Wood Room in the Clift just because it’s one of the coolest bars ever, and of course treat yourself to a trolley ride and enjoy the foggy air on your way to Ghirardelli’s for a hot fudge Sunday.

P.S I’m a dunce and forgot my camera, so here’s a photo of me, Mom and my brother in the early years in San Fran.  Try to guess which grumpy little turd I am??????  It’s no wonder I ended up a photographer, when my Dad used to make us pose every ten minutes for the camera no matter what the weather.
