Engagements….

I had the pleasure of meeting Kristen & Joe through a good friend of mine a few weeks ago.  They will be getting married some time in May or June of 2010 and were kind enough to ask me to photograph them for their engagement.  I have to be totally honest here, engagement photographs have always been a big challenge for me.  I get really nervous before meeting up with a couple for their photo session.  There is just something about the directing and posing of an engagement session that makes me feel like all the spotlight is shifted away from the couple to and on to me and my directing skills.  I love shooting people while they naturally interact and giving bits of advice.  So for this session with the generous trust of both Kristen and Joe we decided to do just that.  We met up with our mutual friend Jericho at our local pub and enjoyed a few beers and snacks, all the while reminiscing about college and life and so on.  The laid back environment and company of friends made it easy for me to sneak to the sidelines to snap away at the happy couple enjoying an afternoon.  We also hit a few other locations in my home town of Encinitas for a bit more scenery.  The end result was a few great photos and a lot of laughs.  We had such a good time together I was invited to join the families and friends the next day for an engagement party and barbecue.  I of course brought my camera along and documented the party.  You can view the engagement party images on my new favorite toy from the brilliant mind of David Jay’s Showit Web here:  http://scott.myshowit.com/joeandkristen-2 Thanks again to Jasmine Star for sharing this awesome tool with everyone on her blog.  David has created the coolest way to showcase your images to be shared with family and friends in the click of a mouse.  His online slideshows made the delivery of Kristen and Joe’s images so much more special.  Thank you David!!
